Many of the best seafood restaurants in Pattaya will show you exactly how fresh their ingredients are. Most of them have fish tanks by the entrance, where you can see your main course swimming around and some even let you select the one you want. Even those places that don’t offer this service give great views out across the Gulf of Thailand, where you will see the glow of the lights from the fishing boats on the horizon. Once the seafood has been landed, the preparations available at the restaurants dotted around the area are varied and generally delicious. While western and international options are quite widely available, the best ones are, naturally, the Thai meals. A lot of the restaurants on our list are as popular with locals as they are with tourists because they specialise in high-quality Thai food at great low prices.

1. Nang Nual Restaurant

Located on Walking Street, closer to the Bali Hai Pier end, Nang Nual Restaurant has both a seaside terrace on one side of the street, behind the tanks full of fresh seafood, with a larger dining area on the inland side. You’ll have to get there early if you want the best view as it is very popular, not least for its good range of dishes, including some great Thai preparations like tom yum goong, steamed sea bass or grilled shrimp. As it is situated in Pattaya’s main party street, the prices are noticeably higher than you would find at more local venues, but the quality and the view justify the expense.

2. Marine Seafood Pattaya

Situated right next door to the famous Marine Disco, this is one of the cheaper Walking Street fresh seafood restaurants. Much like the others, it has a terrace at the back with views over Pattaya Bay, fresh ingredients on display in tanks by the entrance and a wide choice of Thai and international preparations. The seafood platter or the curried crab come highly recommended. The staff speak excellent English and their service is very good.

3. Rim Talay

Rim Talay has a great location on one of Pattaya’s best beaches, with tables set right on the sand as well as in the beach bar-style restaurant. The upper floor, by the car park, has all of the seafood laid out in a ‘market’, so you can see just how fresh it is and can choose your own fish, crab, prawns, lobster or other ingredients. The menu includes quite a wide range of preparations, including Japanese, Chinese, Russian and western, but it is the Thai dishes which really stand out, making it a popular place with locals and tourists alike. We particularly enjoyed the fried seafood curry with coconut milk, costing 299 baht.

Opening Hours: 09:00 – 23:00

4. Lungsawai Seafood

A very well-established local seafood restaurant, Lungsawai Seafood has been at the very southern end of Jomtien Beach Road for over 30 years now. It has a pleasant rustic style and enjoys a fresh sea breeze and views out over the Gulf of Thailand. Don’t miss the signature dish – Kan Chiang Pu Neung (steamed sea crab sculls dipped in a special homemade sauce). This and the other fantastic local Thai seafood dishes on the menu are all very reasonably priced, in the region of 100 baht per dish.

Opening Hours: 10:00 – 22:00
