The River Market is a highly recommended restaurant on the banks of the Ping River. Serving lunch and dinner, this is the place to try Thai classic dishes in a Thai-Burmese colonial-inspired building. Prices here are surprisingly reasonable and the portions large. From tables out on the balcony, the river flows silently and the Iron Bridge can be viewed close by. The menu throws few surprises and has all the classics expected such as tom yum kung, pad thai, green curry and papaya salad. They aren’t reinventing the wheel but what they do is done very well. An excellent value happy hour offers two for one on drinks and half price sushi.
